applications today take patience. there process has been muddled up by defensible hiring practices and endless background checks.
the websites like indeed and zip recruiter are very hard to navigate.
don’t ever let AI do your resume
and don’t limit yourself to your interests. branch out think out of the box take entry level positions to interview and gain new insight into the process.

there are employers out there who love extended experience. I am 55 and I got employed by a skill that I learned decades ago.

keep trying they need us in the workforce.

Try being self employed for 25 years and then trying to get a job lol at 57 it’s harder than running the business…. Good luck to all us old timers who have work ethic etc

I’ll be in the same boat fairly soon.

Ageism is potentially creeping in. I am just a bit younger than you and have naturally silver hair. I did temporary colored gel to cover the grey when I had a recent interview, and had removed dates on my resume. , Got the offer.

I’m sorry to hear you’re still having to work despite retiring. What sort of jobs are you going for, still teaching positions? Maybe you could be a substitute if you didn’t want to go back to full time?

How does your resume look? I’d be willing to take a look at it.

Good morning. My mother retired in 2006 after teaching 2nd grade for 40 years. After a year she became very bored. She decided to tutor. Also, go ahead and submit your resume to become a substitute teacher or teacher assistant. TRUST ME these children desperately NEED your EXPERTISE! I PROMISE YOU!

Patience is what we are working with these days, especially for those of us who are older job seekers.
Apply for everything that parallels with your experience, add all duties you completed in your last job, and be honest about why you are stepping back into the job market.
By the way-have you tried, or are you interest in, driving for Uber? From what I've seen it's a quick process to start up and it'll generate 'some' income during your other search. Good luck.

I am thinking about it as well.

Trying to figure out if I should start as an inbound SDR, or try jumping straight into an AE role in SaaS.

I left mortgages at the beginning of the year to start a franchise business, it's now semi-self-sufficient so wanted to start a career again and I live in the Silicon Slopes area. Everyone I know is in SaaS or software engineering.

Just wondering if I should push my resume as far as possible and try to snag an AE role or take my time in a new industry and start from the bottom.
