I don't think so, because where I once worked they taught you how to bartend from scratch as a beginner, & its not difficult to teach.
There's a good app called Free Pour, I suggest using that to help extend your knowledge of drinks & bar terminology.
They should also have a recipe book lying around that teaches you how to build the drinks too.
If not, then that's annoying & id try somewhere else if they're not being welcoming.
I'm having the same issue with barista jobs. Most of the coffee shops around me want you to have experienced background Barista training, but how am I supposed to get that when almost nobody around me is hiring & or wants you to be experienced?
I've definitely been teaching myself extra things at home & studying types of coffees, but it doesn't help that much like hands on training.
Usually places teach you, but sometimes they say they will and they don’t!
Is this rage bait? Yes you should have cocktail knowledge if you’re applying to a bar…
Some employers actually give people a chance! You can hire someone great personality with rubbish skills but you can teach them or rubbish personality with great skills: I know which one I’d prefer!

Yes you should have a basis knowledge of cocktails, the classics at the least. Even if you have no experience as a bartender at all, a quick google search or a couple YouTube videos can help you get more informed on the basics
Yes! This! Even a YouTube video will help!
Thankfully some places don’t go off experience and you can sometimes get a chance without it!
