The one that regularly required me to work outside of business hours. Money was great too, but that didn't make up for the stress caused by working 55+ hour weeks. It doesn't sound all that bad in theory, but that extra time at work leaves you with very little energy left over for much else. I was pretty much a hermit the two years I was there. Workout, work, make dinner, sleep, repeat.

That’s honestly exhausting. 55 hours is a lot. Its basically three extra hours every workday! No amount of pay really makes up for having no energy left for life!
Growing in a low income household in a third world $huthole where we lived paycheck to paycheck, I've developed a different perspective towards work after immigrating to the US especially when I get busy..After seeing people toil with physically demanding labor to get paid a lot less than what I make, I'm eternally grateful that all I have to do is sit on a desk, drink coffee and think. And then I punch away my keyboard with my fingers. I tell my wife that I get paid to sit on a desk and think all day...that's it. Such a good life that hundreds of millions of people don't have.

That’s a great perspective. People always say comparison is the thief of joy, but you’ve kind of flipped that on its head. Comparing reminds you how fortunate you are, and it keeps things grounded. Love that!
I’ll be honest, I’ve spent my career working hybrid and almost never having to put in extra hours. I don’t think I could work another job.

Totally get that and honestly, you’re lucky. Before COVID, most of us never had the luxury of working remotely, so once you’ve had hybrid work and sane hours, it really resets what you’re willing to accept.

I have worked so many awful, long hour jobs, and now have finally found the perfect balance. I work hybrid / I can come and go to the office as I please and it works SO well. For my mental health too. Some days you just dont wanna go in for no reason, and its okay!
I found at my previous jobs that the people made the biggest difference. Having bitchy people makes it feel very heavy. Constantly worried you are being gossiped about!

That really sounds like the ideal balance. Having flexibility and trust does wonders for mental health. Happy for you to find a great job!
