This was really starting to mess with me during my first month or two of the job search. I have another friend who is also looking for a job and she was going through a similar thing. We decided to become accountability buddies and text each other every morning that we are up and at the job search. Sometimes we meet at a café and search together. Having someone keep you accountable is really helpful, I found.
The relevant employers know I’m available. I’m not going to spend all day on a hamster wheel
Instead of just “find a job,” I break things down and that helps me have something to do at each part of the day. I update my resume, apply to two jobs, connect with one person on LinkedIn, or read an article about my industry. Checking off even small tasks gives me a sense of progress. And the other thing that really helps me is that I try to wake up, eat meals, and go to bed at the same times most of the days of the week. Even something as simple as making my bed or taking a morning walk really anchors the day for me.
