I have a coworker who always avoids eye contact and won't even acknowledge me when I say good morning. I want to stay professional and keep the peace, but it's clear she doesn't like me. What would you do?

If it was me I'd just shrug it off. The person is probably just shy, or they could be dealing with something where they don't feel like being sociable. You can never know what's really going on with some people. I always say good morning to people, but I'm aware they don't owe me a cheerful greeting in return.

They could very well just not like you; they may also just be that type of person. Unless it impacted other things, I’d leave well enough alone.

That's her problem. Ignore it. Some people just aren't friendly or will dislike you for no apparent reason. There's no point trying to make sense of it if it isn't affecting your work.

They might be racist or a nurse bully, so it's best to avoid them and keep a record if they cause you any trouble.

Is it a good time to join UBS as an AD? I have a total of 8.10 yoe. I was not looking for change but one of my previous company client employee asked me to take up the interview and I have cleared all the rounds and got the offer letter.

Hi Fishes,

I recently got an offer from PWC for Associate Director position.

I understand PWC shows the fixed component only as part of compensation benefit.

Can you please let me know how much bonus I can expect?

Can you please also let me know what is the annual hike provided by PWC?

How is your district implementing school reentry? How are you setting up your classrooms to meeting social distancing while still allowing for free play?

Welcome to our pre-k inclusive classroom. Even with 8 students, and only face to face for 4 hours, we struggle. We struggle being heard through our masks. We struggle with social distancing. We struggle as we find ourselves constantly reminding students to keep their masks on. We struggle to keep them engaged and to teach. One thing we do not struggle with- building connections and showing out love for each child.

Looking for experiences/opinions on A/C options for old houses. E.g., high velocity ducts vs ductless mini splits. Seems like mini splits are way easier and possibly more effective...but seems like an eye sore. Or... is it just what a contractor thinks will work given your house? Curious what everyone thinks!

I’ve been a paralegal for about 30 years in private law firmS. As I get older, I feel like it’s time for a semi-career change. Either an office manager position or perhaps a corporate position where I can travel a little since my kids are grown and I’m an empty-nester. Has anyone made this type of transition? Advise welcome. TIA

Comforting others:
When someone tells me bad news regarding their health, I say everything I am supposed to say (I’m sorry to hear that, I’m here for you, etc) EXCEPT “everything is going to be ok”. Because I can’t guarantee that and I really don’t know if everything is going to be ok. I was taken aback recently when a friend told me I am calloused and cold-hearted for not being able to say those words. Is she right? Should I start saying this for the purposes of providing comfort only??
