[Requesting opinion] My SIL is getting roka-ed and my husband and I requested to do the roka in Nov because we cannot travel before that. I just received my Christmas bonus, and I am floored. My bonus was equal to one month’s salary. This is my first year bag in the field in 10 years. At my last firm, my Christmas bonus was a target gift card. I honestly wasn’t even expecting a Christmas bonus. The firm is already helping me pay my tuition and allowing me to be flexible with my hours. I usually exceed my monthly billing goal by 10-20 hours. But there have been times I barely scraped by! Is this normal?

Are any of the paralegal exams worth it? Just spent some time looking at the requirements for PACE. I have a bachelors (and masters), neither in paralegal studies, no paralegal cert, but 9 years of experience. About 4 years in T&E and the last 5 in house corporate. Obviously haven’t had issues getting hired without a cert, but working on my development plan for my performance review and thinking about continuing ed. Curious for your thoughts. TIA!

Hello, I’ve been doing litigation for 6 years. I truly hate it and I’m wondering how difficult it would be to transfer to a different type of law (possibly at the same firm)? What is the least stressful paralegal role? Or what other types of jobs can I get to avoid billable hours and over the top stress? Help please, I need a more sustainable job that I actually like. Litigation is too chaotic for my personality.

Any bonus structure suggestions that you all deem fair? At my firm we have to bill over a certain amount of hours to get a good bonus. All paralegals have different areas of expertise, years of experience, and some get to work from home while others don’t. I don’t understand why we’re all expected to bill the same amount of hours. Any suggestions of refining this structure? Thanks!
