Any recommendations for recruiters? NY RR second year. I prefer to stay in NY.

My wife and I are considering relocating to a new city. I’ve been working with a recruiter who (I thought) gave me a good lay of the land. Which firms to meet with re lateral opportunities, which to avoid, etc. I’ve since spoken with a friend who has connections at other firms that could be a better fit. Do I bring in my recruiter or reach out through connections? Is using a recruiter beneficial to me, or am I better off on my own? How does their fee play in to what I could get as a package?

Looking for feedback. What are your thoughts on when asked to provide a case study or project plan as a part of the interview process? I know BCD Travel and other start-ups make these kinds of request.

If a senior partner referred me, and I still haven't heard back after 4 weeks, what could be the reason as to the delay? Am I not getting an interview?

What’s the best way to turn down a 2nd interview? During the 1st interview, I learned that the compensation for the role is not within the range that I am looking for and requires 400 more billable hours a year than what I bill now. I’d basically be laterally for my current salary just to bill 400 more hours. I also wasn’t aware that the local office was strictly ID. Firm website advertises lots of practice areas. Any advice? In house interview- I am going to hopefully the final round of interview to meet the whole legal team. I was asked about my availability, and it will take 5 hours if in one day. Should I split to multiple days? Will it cause any issues? Anyone on both sides can speak from their experience? Thanks!

You can get into FAANG but remember you will become good for nothing. As when u try to switch you will have bug fixes in your resume no productivity. Beware...

They offer two options: the “traditional” course (which lasts around 2.5 months) and an extended 6-month course. I have been at my current firm for about 1.5 years, and in that entire time the partner in my group hasn't been out of the office a single time. Is that normal? I can't tell if it's standard for big law partners to not take time off, if the dynamics for my group may be different (only 1 partner in the entire group), or it the partner I work with is just a masochist.

I’m hoping someone might have some ideas about this- I’m currently five years out of law school with a clerkship, a tax LLM, 3 years of experience doing transactional tax work and a few months of EC/VC experience (which I recently switched to from tax). I like the EC/VC work, but I don’t know how long I want to stay in biglaw. Can anyone weigh in on how employers for in-house roles might look at my experience in a year or two?
