Anyone who has recently resigned from ibm? When you initiare a separation process from workday, it goes to manager for approval. I asked HR and there is a due date mentioned on that process. Does that mean that if manager does not approve before the due date, my resignation is declined? What is the impact and what is meant by that due date? IBM

Ugh keep them at arm's length. There are always one or two people at work who take things way too seriously. It's their life's ambition, not just a job like it is for me. I steer clear of them as much as possible. We have zero common ground.

While I agree with you, I also have to keep in mind that this is their livelihood. This is how they keep a roof over their head and feed their families. Even if a job doesn't mean a whole lot to me, for some people it's very serious and they take it very seriously. I try to have compassion with those people and not internalize how they're acting.

I mean we all are in it for the same thing right? To feed our family and keep a roof over heads. But I can see your point I guess.

It depends. Some ppl have ambition and actually enjoy what they do and don’t treat it as just a way to make money/clock in and out and go home. If that’s your stance, by all means. That’s what a career is, when you turn a job into something you dedicate your life to. I personally want to enjoy what I do and not just go through the motions, to challenge myself, to grow, to accomplish something. To not be hourly for the rest of my life. That requires me to be more serious than just clocking in, doing the bare minimum and going home. But hey, that’s just me…

That mindset can be exhausting to be around. The best approach is usually to stay grounded, keep clear boundaries, and not engage in the unnecessary drama. Doing your job well without buying into the competition often speaks louder than getting pulled into it.
