I have been working in HR since I was 18, starting as a HR Admin and working up to the role of HR Advisor (8.5 years in total). I have completed my level 5 CIPD and my day to day consists of everything from; payroll, people queries, running of HR processes, recruitment, well-being, L&D, all aspects of reporting and IT to some degree. With this, my salary is £30k a year, yet I am unsure if this is suitable for my role?

I would definitely say that's pretty low, but it also depends on your cost of living. If you're in London compared to if you're in a small city, for example. But even then, you're still making relatively low wages for somebody with your experience. I would expect you to be making at least 20% more. Maybe start looking around for positions in your area with your experience?

I honestly think you are underpaid for that scope. I have done similar work and the breadth you described usually sits at a higher advisory or business partner level, especially with Level 5 CIPD completed.

Is it irrational for me to get an “ick” for this?

I went on a “date” recently. I paid for the tab as they were going to the bathroom. As we were leaving they said “thanks for lunch” — I was hoping they’d at least ask to Venmo me half as a kind gesture. Following lunch we grabbed dessert. I was hoping they’d offer to cover dessert since I covered lunch but it didn’t happen.

I am fine w/ paying but I was hoping the gesture would at least be presented… am I crazy?
