What is on job security for senior engineer in HTC global services if you are new joiner and on bench since 2 months ?

One of my friend has gone for gandhigiri style with relation to work after management refused to roll off him from their project.
Gabdhigiri means not attending meetings and not doing any work at all.
Is there any severe implication other than lay off?
5 yrs exp in java, spring boot developer in concentrix catalyst.

Hi All, I joined publicis sapient in the month of April. It's been 2.5 months since I am on bench. The reason being there are very minimal Java roles requirement for AL2 positions. Both are Permanent WFH offers for the profile of a Core Java developer.
