I don't have any issue with telling people I'm in sales. I don't disagree with what that poster is saying, except that she seems to think there's a stigma. And I'm not so sure that stigma exists anyway.
I can honestly relate to this. I feel like there is a stigma surrounding sales, especially for women in the industry. I've had people assume automatically that I'm selling things that are illegal or even immoral. I'm not sure why this is the automatic assumption, but it can be tricky to navigate at times without delving into the nuances of my actual job.
I've never felt any shame about being in sales. It's honestly kind of wild to me that some people apparently do. It's a vital role, why shouldn't I be proud to do it?
I used to cringe a little when I said I was in sales, like I had to justify it. But the more I grow in this field, the more I realize how this job takes guts, strategy, and empathy. And I’m proud of that.
