If they make the job sound better than it is, they'll get more applicants. A lot of people, if they think it's part-time, won't bother. And with the job market being so bad, there's a good chance someone will take the position even if it's not the full-time position they want.

To get more applicants. Misleading and shady tactics, but I’m sure that’s why they did it. They were certain they’d find someone who would do the job for whatever they’re paying or whatever schedule they’re offering
It’s easier for the company because they don’t have to pay out benefits of being full-time, but can still make you work up to those hours. I’ve been seeing a lot of misleading posts lately. It makes me wonder how sustainable this is for employees in the long term, especially when hours creep up without benefits.
