Denmark full time work is equivalent to what retired people do to keep busy in US retirement - its relative
Nice try Accenture. This is the real world not consulting. Don’t twist my words. Work life balance is significantly better in Denmark and we all know it doesn’t mean people don’t work hard. It means there’s better control of your life and the amount of hours you work each week
The 70 retirement age doesn't go into effect until 2040, meaning there is plenty of time to prepare for the change.
By the time you're in the over-40 bowl, haven't you already adjusted to the fact that life is incredibly, arduously long, and even retiring at 65 is like four lifetimes of having to get up in the morning? Maybe it was just me because I went into factory work instead of consulting and tired out fast. But work lasts way too long and three more years of it does not make the difference.
Also, the alternative is trying to stop the gap with immigration. I'd rather work three extra years myself for a reliable outcome than roll the dice on essentially retiring to a different country, where the new occupants have no reason to honor a system with none of their relatives in it.
Very well-put re: immigration. But we're getting it anyway
In the US raising the retirement age to 74 would make social security fully solvent.
Raising the income maximum would also require raising the benefit maximum or the fairness of the system would be compromised. Social Security was not meant to be a welfare or a wealth redistribution program.
They have about 50 days of vacation and time off a year, so total cumulative days worked is about the same as age 65 in North America.

When the pot is fully boiling. The state will decide when you retire.
