Lol. You're fine. Most people lie on their resume, especially when it comes to what technical skills or platforms they're competent in.
Just put in the work to ramp up. AI makes this much easier than just a couple of years ago.

Yeah, in a job posting for an analytics engineer, they want so many tools to know. I started in analytics just by knowing Excel purely 🤣

I think you’ll be just fine. Honestly, the way some recruiters structure their requirements almost pushes applicants to stretch the truth on their CVs. Thankfully, AI has become a solid tool to lean on, use it smartly and strategically.

It has helped me get past the ATS system most of the time. Until it is asked in an interview, I am also careful not to bring it up.
I wish they would trust what I said. Everything I've shown is realistic
Dbt is so confusing to use at an enterprise scale but it definitely helps once you can figure it out. But fake it till you make it

It is. I took a crash course on LinkedIn, which has definitely helped me understand and communicate in the same language as others.
😂 you’ll be fine. Fake it till ya make it

That is my career plan now 😂
The amount of incompetence in tech these days is insurmountable. The very fact that you’re aware of your limitations is promising, I’m sure you will be fine.

Thank you for these words of encouragement 🙌🏻
If you barely understand it but you're in charge that means your boss definitely doesn't understand it. Just make sure you run lots of things by them for their approval. Then if a mistake is made you'll be able to pin it on them.

My boss has zero technical background, and even in my interview, I had just one behavioural interaction with my boss!
Honestly it's hard to become familiar with dbt until you've used it in a job, so it's kind of a chicken-and-egg requirement to begin with.
Yes, I said I was familiar with Tableau and PowerBI. PowerBI wasn't a lie, I just wasn't up to speed. Tableau was a stretch. I'd used Qlikview, SSRS, Crystal Reports extensively, heavy SQL background, decent Excel skills.
I think where it went wrong was honestly my age (50) and gender (only production female in group). The older people were planning to retire in 2 years bc of their military background. The young FTE's all played Fortnite, had young families, talked about their gaming PCs, etc.
My boss started getting impatient about deadlines and started wanting to "see" my work, then wanted to watch how and what I've been doing.
Granted, I have ADHD, brain fog, and anxiety -- ADHD I disclosed to her -- and I'm not at all good at expressing my thoughts verbally. I wonder if I'm on the spectrum, tbh.
Lost that contract in March and I'm still looking for something - anything almost at this point.
I'm afraid the bridge was burned at that company and it may be affecting my ability to find new employment now. :(
This breaks my heart. My job has been made redundant and I've been on the lookout for a new role in analytics for the past 4 months (13 years of experience in data and analytics). My resume passes ATS systems but I know (bc recruiters actually told me) that I sometimes am not considered for a role because of dbt missing from my CV. Now, I have built my own data models in the past (using Jinja syntax and everything) and reviewed them with data engineers who proceeded to productionise them in dbt. Since I've only done part of the job, I can't bring myself to lie in my resume and say I know how to use the tool. Others are telling me to bluntly lie, but how on earth do you respond to an interview technical question related to the tool? Also, how on earth are you supposed to learn the tool if there's no online resources available (I've tried online trainings but I need hands-on exercises)? Kuddos to you for lying and getting away with it. I can't bring myself to do it.
