Start with learning Python and sql

It depends on where in data science you want to go.

For basics, you’d need:

1) a way to extract data, SQL
2) a way to manipulate it, Python, Excel, R
3) a way to visualize results Tableau, Power BI, Python

Major point !!!!
Practice, watching videos and reading will only get you so far.

Also, you should follow/ read up on data science. Look at any that interests you. Predicting the outcome in sports, how does x company know what to recommend etc

I’d look at the skills in job postings of where you want to work. So you have an idea of what skills you want to work toward.

Just keep in mind some job postings can have unrealistic expectations.

Hope this helps.

Taking my shot in tech sales. Consulting was great experience but enjoyed the relationship and BD aspect more and didn’t see myself climbing to partner. Starting in a junior BD Rep role to learn prospecting and earn quota history. Took a big paycut for the potential future earnings as an Account Exec. Did I dun goof? Probably. But I’ll regret it forever if I didn’t take my chance now when I’m still single and young-ish.

Could someone help me break down the differences between a Data Analyst vs Data Scientist vs Product Manager? And add any pros/cons from personal experience? In my mind they’re all related, but I don’t have experience working with any of these roles.

Just started a new Data Analyst position in which I have constant meetings with senior leadership and executives. I have a bad habit of giving too much background info and not getting straight to the point. I just feel like every little detail is important (even though that’s not always the case). Hi All, I am currently a Data Analyst with 1 year of experience and pursuing a masters in Computer Science (expected to graduate 5/2023). I am looking to transition into an entry Data Scientist role (preferably remote or Philadelphia, PA). Can someone refer me or let me know who is hiring?

I can provide my resume if needed.

Hi all,
I graduated during Covid with a double major in business administration and business management with a minor in marketing and magically ended up in sales because I needed a job. I’m about to take a data analytics course to make an attempt to break into that field. I’m currently looking for a mentor to help guide me during this time. Also, if anyone is willing to look over my resume and give me tips on how to make it more presentable for recruiters in DA that would be very helpful. Thanks

Senior to Manager-level Data Scientists, what is the minimum set of skills and experience you require someone to have in order to train them to be a Data Scientist?

I have a handful of people from BI and Marketing who want to learn how to be a "Data Scientist" where some of them have stronger SQL knowledge and ability than others, but some of them have more exposure to languages like Python and R, and a little bit of machine learning exposure.

Appreciate the input in advance.
