I lost my job in July due to performance issues, but no specifics. The company's policy is to confirm dates and titles, but my old boss apparently told a recruiter who called that I got fired and can't be rehired. I've started checking "don't contact" on applications, but I worry it looks suspicious. Should I say something to my former HR people about this, or forget it?

Isn’t that illegal? They can only ask what dates you’ve worked there. They can’t tell them you got fired. That’s what I’ve been told.

They can confirm whether or not you are eligible for rehire. Honestly, if things didn’t end well, I would briefly address it with a potential future employer and shift into what you learned from the experience.

Once you are out, it's planned and don't seek mercy from them, world is cruel and all people think that are doing great till the time comes.

From being a regional sales manager, he also can say when asked if that same job came up from the previous employer and applied for that job again, would you hire if they say no that’s the legal way to let them know you’re not fit

I'd probably just continue checking don't contact. Given the context of you being let go, I think this makes sense and isn't as suspicious as you might think. Does anyone who's been laid off think their former employer is going to vouch for them?

I tend to write don't contact for most of my employers... Doesn't mean it's because things didn't go well

I would address it. A former boss sharing unnecessary details can damage future chances. A simple, factual note to HR asking them to follow policy could protect you. Staying silent gives that old manager too much power over your path.

Your employer owned the job ; we live in a “right to work “ state, which means you have no right for termination . You work from one minute to next . You have political rights but no employment right. The only Wright you have in your employment is not to be murdered by that prosecution.
