What is the salary range for an international tax senior manager role at Big 4 in London? Thanks guys!
What are some common interview questions for an experienced tax senior 1 role? Do you all have any recommendations/advice on how to best be prepared?
I am going into my second year as a tax senior associate. Just got off the phone with a recruiter from industry discussing their current tax openings. At RSM, we will likely be finding out our raises in the next week or two. If my estimate of my raise is correct, the industry position will be about $5k more. Is this worth it to leave public accounting?
What is big 4 salary in NYC for tax senior position? I have been reached by recruiters from 3 of big4. I have two years experience with midsize firm. Hopefully it’s ok to apply senior in big 4
Got selected in EY TTT as Tax senior for Test automation role. In TTT do we work for clients or we work in internal IT Applications for Tax
NYC-based tax senior here. Hopefully will be promoted this upcoming year to manager and thinking of moving to tax technology after getting promoted. For anyone here with experience making this move: how did you sell yourself in order to switch to a different role? Is there a difference in salary? Should I start the conversations now or will it mess up my promo?
I’m a tax senior in big 4. Which role in the industry has a better career trajectory in terms of growth and pay: senior accountant or senior tax accountant? I do a lot of tax provision and starting to find tax interesting but I’m not having a lot of luck finding openings for in house tax roles.
Is it too forward to request to be considered for a Tax Senior position for after this tax season? I want to go to Human Resources and request this. I’m first generation into the corporate world and I’ve always been tenacious and straightforward, so I don’t want to come off on the wrong foot. I’m even considering going to a Partner and ask in a casual conversation. - 3 year Associate, LCOL, local firm
Tax Senior Assoc - Would you stay with a (RSM, GT, BDO) or go to a top 8-10 firm for 25% more pay at the same position.
Looking to exit public accounting. I am working with a recruiter who said private industry jobs are hard to come by and is trying to get me into a tax senior role at a smaller regional firm. Should be slightly better pay and slightly better hours. I'm not sure if this is a good move or if I should wait for a position in industry? The recruiter is saying that the longer I stay in PA, the less marketable I am. Thoughts?
A recruiter reached out about a Remote Tax Senior position for CohnReznick based out of Washington DC. Has anyone worked remote for CohnReznick? If so what was the salary and experience like?
If you have worked or currently work at Baker Tilly, what do you like and dislike about the firm? I’m currently interviews for a tax senior position that would be remote.
How many candidates are usually left if you’ve made it to the 3rd round of interviews? This is for a tax senior role in industry for context
Hi Everyone - I am currently looking out for State and Local Tax opportunities as an experienced tax senior/new manager role. Please share the leads, thanks much.
Anyone switched from Big 4 to mid-tier accounting firm? I've been wanting to switch teams to do more specialized tax work, but internal transfer sounds so hard due to covid, and also moving to another big4 is very unlikely atm due to hiring freeze. Also wanting to know how hard it is to bounce back to big4 if I dont like the experience. Tax Senior here
Hi All, I am looking to explore State and Local Tax (SALT) opportunities available in the market (open to relocate) for an Experienced Tax Senior/New Manager role. Any leads are appreciated. Thank you.
Interested in applying for the SAP Tax Senior role @Deloitte. Essentially have 4 years background in Tax and would like to shift to a more technology related role. Thoughts on whether Deloitte would even entertain my background?
If anyone is interested in, and qualified for, a Tax Senior or Tax Manager role, DM me. My firm is hiring. Los Angeles office, but you can work remote (with travel to LA once in a while when needed).
Anyone have general tips to make my resume look better? I’m a Tax senior looking to leave public for a financial institution in an accounting/finance/tax role. I have general descriptions of the types of clients I’ve worked on. All I have on there is my education and current job (I started working in public right out of school).
My firm recently removed the CPA requirement to make manager in FDD stating that it is following the market. Being a CPA is definitely better than not being one but will it hurt my exit opportunities if I decide to not pursue my license? Do companies outside of public accounting even care that much about having your license / are others seeing this same trend?
Do I stand a chance in consulting? Background: bachelors (GPA 3.5) and masters (GPA 3.8) in accounting, 1.5 years of experience in tax at PwC as associate. Currently on H1B visa. I don’t have any consulting experience, maybe just a few cases at school. I don’t consider myself aggressive, I’m more of a laid-back person. Im hard working and don’t mind working high hours. The reason I want to make the switch is 1) I think consulting work is generally more interesting; 2) more exit opportunitie
I had a referral at bcg and was told recruiting would reach out if I was qualified if I’m not will I be notified or just left in the dark
Has anyone here drafted their own prenup? Context: I am first year attorney and my partner is about to start law school part time. Other than debt and our 401ks, neither of us is bringing much to the table in terms of assets. We want a prenup to opt out of equitable distribution laws and how martial property is defined. We aren’t sure it is worth the expense of both hiring lawyers to draft what is likely to be a simple document. But we also want a prenup that will hold up in court.
I got rolled onto a project right out of onboarding, but I don’t have the skills for this role. Should I embrace a grueling 6 months or consider speaking to my manager about rolling off?
Can anyone recommend a wireless drawing tablet? I’m not a designer but picking up that role in my freelance gig and my track pad is starting to really cramp my hand. Thanks!
Corp Strat at a Fortune 50 or MBB? I'm not at a MBB. I don't think i'd stay for partner at MBB the only benefit I could see is coming back to a F50 firm at a higher position and paygrade.
Desi Consultants!! - who all are thinking of hiring Sima Taparia (after watching Indian matchmaking on Netflix) for finding your future significant other?
Applied for an in-house position last week. I think I am a good fit. Haven’t heard from the big tech company. I briefly worked for the director of that group a few years back at a different law firm and we are connected on LinkedIn. Should I reach out to her? What should I say?
Is it easier/harder to recruit for mckinsey implementation vs a generalist role for mba full time recruiting? I kinda like ops work, but wondering if there's any issues with supply & demand re: hiring.
I recently accepted an industry exit offer at 2 YOE. I have taken vacation for the last two weeks and am meeting with my talent manager today to let them know. They think we are meeting to discuss the pipeline for next week. Any advice for the conversation? I have enough PTO to last until my start date in mid August. Can I expect to take all of it?
Who has left their job as a consultant? What are you doing now? How did you get into that role?
I am an experienced consultant working at Deloitte. A recruiter reached out to me from PWC for a manager position. I have over three years of experience outside of US and a Masters degree from an accredited university in US. What do I need to know to respond to this recruiter.
Do other agencies have a “no hiring people from Vayner” policy or is my inability to land a new job just because I suck?
Got an offer from ACN for a Senior Manager role and was curious if there is a defined process to get Managing Director, or is it all gut feel and back room deals?
A pretty good exit
Fresh year two manager. Should I give it a shot at sr mgr role by taking advantage of the hot job market?
How about Lyft removing the $5 off after 5 business rides promotion? Back to Uber I go... ...whenever we get to traveling again 😬
Is a year too soon to ask for a raise? If you've made a handful of things, some of them pretty cool, including a 360 campaign? Also...forgive my inexperience, but who do I ask about a raise?
Thoughts on my future candidacy? WE: Management Consulting (nonstrategy) 4 years, one promotion. Education: Large state school Accounting degree, 3.9 GPA. Also a CPA. Exam: GRE 168Q 162V Extracurriculars: Big Brother Big Sister, Alma Mater Mentor, Mentor for foundation for underprivileged HS students Intended schools: Johnson, Ross, Darden, CBS, Kellogg, Booth, Haas, Duke Is my list a stretch? Would you date a guy who grew up under a father who was abusive towards his mother? He doesn’t like his dad for oblivious reasons but I am kind of scared to walk into this. He seems like a great guy
My wife and I would like to retire at age 50 (or earlier). We’re in our early 30s. We’ve been maxing out 401ks and IRAs for years and started contributing 20k a year into a taxable account to start filling the gap since we can’t access 401k until 55. At what point should we be reducing 401k/IRAs and redirecting to the taxable account? Otherwise our income balloons late in life. Curious how others are managing this.
The more pedestrian your intellect, the better fit you are at D Heard of a colleague with an FRM charter being laid off today. Overall excellent person. And you won't believe who they promote year after year.. the character, curiosity and quality of the lifers Don't join this firm if you for a love of learning and to be inspired. Join if you are a middling who wants a good brand to hack ahead in life and rise above your station
Anyone know what the promotion bonus is when you make manager in EY Tax? Not talking PBB, just bonus purely related to promotion. Thanks.
Anyone else experience something similar? My SO, friends, and family, who aren’t attorneys, all think that I should be working for some big firm or corporation making tons of money and working 9-5. But when I tell them that my dream is to run my own shop and take interesting cases and help friends develop their businesses, they look at me and say “ok? So go do that then.” I’m like yes, I am. My current firm is very small and allows me that experience and connections and opportunity. (Cont.)
Fishes, looking for recommendations on growing business development and sales skills. Finding and growing pipelines, establishing marketing materials, closing sales, and similar for services. I have on the job experience within consulting but never any formal training or education. Entering a new role where I'll need to build organizational capabilities from scratch. Any recommendations on programs, certificates, courses, books, or other similar ideas would be greatly appreciated. TIA!
If you’ve gotten an offer from one shop while you’re in the 2nd round of interviews with a few others, is there a ‘best practices’ for being diplomatic whilst using it to your advantage?
If my home office is in New York, my clients are in North Carolina but I am working from home in Maryland, what state do I put down on my timesheet?
Looking for advice: starting new job on 1st Sept and have options to either move to DC or continue living at home with parents/sibling/sis-in-law until year end. I’m a 27M. New salary is $107K. Prefer living at home to save money but we’re in a 3BR with both parents, my brother, sis in law, and two kids (ages 3 and 1). Being at home can be distracting because everyone works full time and child caring often falls on my shoulders. It’s hard to just say “no” because of culture. Any advice? Thanks!
Know you travel too much when you can judge the status of the SPG integration by the now matching granola in Marriott and SPG.

Why do big 4 people go get a top MBA and join big 3 consulting firm instead of internally move to advisory service/consulting?
Creative directors & recruiters: Is it daft to network right now? I’m finishing my Master’s & am eager to get my career started but I don’t know if it’s foolish to network myself during this crisis.
Can someone explain how tax brackets work? I've been living in the US for 3 yrs, have only worked 1. Married. Miserable salary bump this yr: 147k to 152k
