Safer to stick to non-shiny, in my opinion, although patent isn’t all that out there if you’ve found a pair you really love. (My favorites are the Stuart Weitzman Power Pump in case that’s at all helpful)
I knew a trial lawyer who wore red high heels at trial and rocked them. Patent leather definitely.
While patent is stunning, if/when you start getting creases, they are more noticeable than on other materials. It put me off my patent pumps.
Patent is appropriate for winter. Always wear nice shoes to trial as jurors will be watching your fashion, shoe, bag and jewelry choices. You will be judged for it. You should wear whatever makes you the most confident irrespective of heel height, color or material.
