I have a bunch! With a hood - fur lined parka is nice. Personally I also like a camel wool coat or a teddy bear coat with no hood. But it depends how cold it gets where you are.
Wool coats from Ted Baker or The Kooples
I *hate* the puffer coats so, so much. There is a hilarious video of a woman describing the sensory nightmare of puffer coats (your hair is getting stuck, you're hot in your car, too big for your shoulder tote...). I have been wearing a longer houndstooth trench coat for a while, or a hooded leather jacket.
Abercrombie has some good options. I have a houndstooth pattern one from there that’s held up well. Express has decent options although I felt the quality wasn’t that great (but did get it on sale with express cash so didn’t cost much).
I bought an Audvik on sale at Fox’s and it is so warm and not puffy. https://audvik.com/en-us?srsltid=AfmBOop1B6P58M_wCSvCJ5Xlft-sSPOGW5EwwbeYrqwjRMGgRo_X73oW
Also not typically a puffer fan, but I have a TNA Powder Parka from Aritzia that I absolutely love. It’s not as “puffy” and the material is more matte/ wind proof which I like.
I have wonderful long wool coats from Zara & Mango. They aren’t exactly weatherproof but they are very warm! You might benefit from a waterproof trench type that comes with a hood. I would splurge on a good one because I haven’t seen affordable options that look great
Also - I recommend getting rechargeable hand warmers on Amazon. Sometimes that makes the difference between needing a warmer coat or not
