I realised this week that job searching takes more emotional energy than I admit. Even when things are progressing, the uncertainty sits quietly in the background. How do I protect my confidence while staying open to new opportunities?

I think it's a good idea to just keep constantly reminding yourself that this is business, not personal. Even when the whole process feels very emotional and, well, personal. It's not. I use it as a mantra to protect my peace during this awful process.

I really relate to the “it is business, not personal” mantra. I have had to repeat that to myself more than once. It feels personal because it affects your life, but decisions are often timing, budget, or internal politics. Detaching protects confidence.

I take a step back when I'm feeling low and take an objective look at my career. It hasn't been perfect by any means, but I've still managed to accomplish a fair bit and am mostly proud of myself for it. It's easy to lose confidence when you're facing constant rejections, but I know I wouldn't have made it this far if I wasn't good at what I do. I am, and I'm sure you are too. Hang onto that whenever that self-doubt starts to creep up.

I love the idea of zooming out and looking at the full career arc. I have found that grounding myself in actual evidence of what I have achieved helps quiet the self doubt. Progress is rarely linear, but the capability does not disappear.

Is your firm treating 12/26 and 12/27 as firm holiday since the 24th and the 25th are during the weekend this year? For what it’s worth, my firm treated the day after thanksgiving as holiday and I didn’t have to work for the whole day.

Looking for some UGC gigs. I can do unboxing and demos. Rates start at $100 for a video, and $20 per photo. which is significantly lower than others in the market. Just trying to get more content creation under my belt. I specialize in social media as a director in a marketing agency, so I know what will perform. Give me a holler if you need UGC for your brands! :)

So I have family situation I've been dealing with and yesterday at a company function outside the office, my supervisor brought it up in front of a bunch of people. First of all highly inappropriate, but also it's nobody's business. She's made comments before outside of work about how her boss is gay, blah blah blah. I'm just at a loss. Should I report it to HR? And if I do, how do I do it without it being known that it came from me??

Why some Managers and Leads are obsessed over faster delivery? I have found this behaviour specifically within India Based firms or clients. I mean quality work takes time. Better designing takes time. Ni bas jaldi krdo! I mean its not food that will rotten if 2 ka 3 din hogya! Seriously start the work in chaos and then later say “We understand everything is complicated in this project but it is how it is and we have to work hard to tackle this!” I mean it was you who made it complicated!

Had an interview for an associate position at Citi. Interviewee was based in London and I’m in NYC. The only interview time that worked was 6am. I was barely functioning and feel like I truly messed up in my answers because I couldn’t not think clearly. I have another with the head of the division next week again at 6am (pre determined before this interview). It was also hard because the division’s core work is private enough that there was not much prep I could do beforehand. Tips?
