I wanna take PTO so bad and have the days to take off but sometimes it’s daunting going through the approval process. Feels like another job. What are the steps you need to take before taking PTO?? Is it complex or simple at your agency / company

I guess I'm really grateful that my boss is chill about this. I just let him know when I'll be taking off, and he approves it in workday. I don't even really have to ask, just let him know.

Damn that’s it? We have to cc a bunch of people in HR go through a system approval, send out a structured email, send reminders, put it on calendars ..

I generally don't have any problems getting days approved. But I usually do it reasonably far in advance, and I guess I don't ask to take off a lot of days. I haven't hit any real scheduling problems so far, which is probably lucky, or just an indication that I'm not indispensable.

So all you have to do is just make sure it’s in advance? That’s it? Who do you reach out to first - your direct manager, project manager or resource manager?

I'm a recent grad who accepted an entry-level full-time job offer with Capital One. I knew that MBB and other consulting firms rarely ever negotiate salary with new grads, so I didn't with Capital One as well. Was that a mistake?
