Honestly, I've been out of a job for about nine months and it's pretty tough out here. If you have something stable but not particularly fulfilling, consider finding new ways to bring meaning back into your current job. You could also start looking for something. The best time to look for a job is when you still have one!
And hope you get employed at a great place soon too 🤍
It really doesn't hurt to look around if you feel ready to move onto something else. I would try to make sure your current job never finds out that you are looking, though. This job market is every bit as bad as people make it out to be, and you don't want to find yourself between jobs. People are going unemployed for very long periods and it's going to get worse before it gets better.

I stayed too long once at a “safe” job because of fear, and I regretted it. When I finally left, I realized I was way more capable than I thought. You could do what my friend did, she started applying to roles while at the job, just so she could stay as long as possible until she found her next role, the one that made sense to her. I took to long to do that.

What's the harm? I wouldn't expect to land something immediately since the job market seems pretty tough right now. But with that being said, I don't see any downside to looking. The worst that can happen is you don't find anything and have to keep the stable, boring job. Best case scenario you receive a great offer and can move on.
