Manager here in Big4 consulting. I enjoy the people I work for, and have an amazing MD and the best flexibility. I should be promoted to SM shortly. I don’t really care for my job but I don’t want to switch jobs b/c my situation is the best it will get (increasing salary and amazing work life balance). My plan is to stay at my company for the next 5 years, save money, get the employer match, and pension with no aspirations of making MD. Just me, or anyone else feel the same?

I want to buy a house with a pool but my husband thinks it is not financially sound and will end up being a money pit since we live in a climate where we can't use it much outside of 3-4 month summer season. We live in the DC, MD, VA area. We have three kids under 10 years of age and I think the benefits for them outweigh the costs. Anyone own a home with a pool and regret it? Why or why not? Did it increase or decrease your home value? Did it make it harder or easier to sell?
