I was hired to manage schedules and travel, but today my boss asked me to go to her house and wait for the plumber because she didn't want to waste her billable hours. When I politely reminded her that my contract is for corporate support, she told me I was being inflexible and that she expected more from a partner-track employee. I feel like a glorified servant rather than a professional, and the goalposts for what my job actually is seem to move every single morning. Is other duties as assigned just a legal loophole for them to treat us like personal valets?

What is a “partner-track” employee?

“Other duties as assigned” is meant to cover reasonable, job-related tasks, not personal errands like waiting at someone’s house for a plumber, which crosses into a different role entirely. While expectations can stretch in fast-paced environments, consistently shifting into personal service work, especially outside your stated scope, is a red flag, not standard practice. You’re not being inflexible; you’re recognizing a boundary that many professionals would question.

What can you do if you’re getting interviewed by the same person who didn’t choose you in the first place?
Context: I applied for a position a while back and got interviewed, but didn’t go to the next round. I found the same position open again a month later at a different location and applied. Almost immediately, I was called for an interview, but with the same interviewer. What does this mean? Is this going to get awkward?

Happy wife happy life is a really toxic saying. I’m just shocked how this has become the standard saying for men in relationships. I have friends of mine saying this all the time, and I have just thought it’s so cringe and always want to say my thoughts on it but always decide to hold back. However, imagine the saying reversed - happy husband happy life - that would lead to all kinds of uproar. To me happy wife happy life means I need to sacrifice my wants and needs to make my wife happy.
