Let’s be real: this is corporate-speak for 'we need the most exploitable candidate available.' The actual brief is to find someone with just enough talent to do the work, but enough personal baggage or lack of industry awareness that it’ll take them two years to realize they’re getting screwed before they finally quit.
No, literally. It's so funny how some employers want people to work out of the goodness of their hearts, or something. As if money shouldn't be their primary motivator at work. Just like it is for the managers.

I’ve experienced the same— and add the fact that some employers want way too much experience for a salary band that’s essentially lowballed and wonder why the applicants to experience needed is misaligned.
The younger generation isn’t in it for the money. They like recognition and time off.
Everyone is interested in the money, especially in this economy. Companies saying these types of things is laughable. Best you can do is try to find what they are looking for but it won't happen and we all know that.
