If you got offered a position and it has a long commute AND a long shift (10+ hrs), would that be a disqualifier for you? I’m struggling to make a decision. What would sway you one way or the other?

If the money was good, I would 100% take it. Take into consideration your travel cost, expected salary, distance, and average price you spend on a full tank. How long will it take you to go through a tank with this added time? What would the average cost be weekly? Do the math and determine if it is worth it based on your needs, wants, and your salary.

I’d definitely have to take into avg weekly costs vs how much it’s costing to commute vs pay for full tanks vs daily costs

It honestly depends on the pay. If the pay is good and makes sense for the commute and work, I would take it. I’m not driving 30+ minutes for less than $50k a year.

Then I would seriously consider it

Yeah, in retail? Absolutely not. Having a commute on top of the long hours is bonkers (for me). Especially with gas prices.

Indeed. And not even taking into account the days when there’s heavy traffic (the woooorst), just the “normal” time it would take to commute

1st Job - 90k…. Is this a good salary? Late to the game at 34. Don’t even know anything about personal finance. Basically feeling like an 18 year old over here with no knowledge of how to run my own life. Having to start over after long term controlling relationship where I was left out of all the finance stuff. So I’m lost TBH. Engineering makes sense, managing my money not so much.
