Firstly, don't talk about this over the phone if you feel like you will give in verbally. Write to the recruiter as it will help organise your thoughts. Secondly, can always say your circumstances have changed but I would be careful as they might ask for proof to this.
Maybe considering saying if you leave now you will miss your year end bonus and also with relocating for this position, you would need some starting assistance.
When I got hired to my last job, I told them the role is awesome and perfect. But after seeing all the requirements, I'd need $10k more to ensure I'm not needing to hop in 18 months. Worked like a charm. And in 18 months I got another 10k.
My relo came when I just told them I’d have to turn it down without relo assistance. Included a hefty signing bonus.
There is no harm in asking them about a sign on bonus, especially if it’s standard. You can gain leverage through research and providing that information. Also ask yourself would you say no without it, therefore you can manage expectations.
I don’t have anything else rn so I don’t feel like I’m in a position to decline the offer but I’d be signing somewhat begrudgingly / it has put a kinda sour taste in my mouth that it feels like they’re low balling me just because they can
I don’t really know how to ask for it though lol (I’m so bad at this stuff ! I just outright told recruiter I had nothing else when she called last week 🤦♀️)

Confidence is key here. Even without any offers you should ALWAYS negotiate. Do you know the range? If so, ask for something higher up there range. Specify that you have done your research and that the number you’re asking for is market rate for your experience.
Thanks guys. I emailed the Partner who gave me the offer 2 days ago and haven’t received any response. After your encouragement, I also tried calling recruiter and emailed her last night as well, but no response from her either.
But the offer officially expires today (they only gave me a couple days) so I feel like I have to sign anyway but it makes me so uncomfortable doing so under these circumstances
Why are you feeling like you have to take this job? Is there a reason why you have to move to a new location? Huge pay increase? From your description, it doesn’t sound like it’s your dream job or that it’s offering anything special that another company wouldn’t. I get that it’s the only offer you have NOW, but you have no clue if you’ll get a call for an interview somewhere else tomorrow. I say pass on this, or at least email the recruiter again and cc the partner saying that while excited by the prospect of joining their team, you don’t feel comfortable signing until you’re able to discuss further and address the items you mentioned in your previous email. Totally fair and major red flags if they aren’t okay with that. Most companies will simply push back the offer deadline. You should never join a company if you’re already unsatisfied and have a bad taste in your mouth. That will never end up being a fulfilling situation.
The relo issue would have been good to discuss in the early stages ie: as early as the first phone screen when you confirm the salary range.
Not saying you can’t negotiate now but it’s a million times easier when you haven’t invested as much time and can walk away on a dime.
For this current offer, I would just take it IF the role is otherwise good ie: respectable salary, better than my current position, WLB, will get me to the next step in my career etc. Understand they might not be giving you exactly what you want but I wouldn’t turn down a job that could be great for me long term just for a couple grand more.
If your salary hasn’t grown in a year/you don’t love it, nothing is stopping you from moving back to where you are now. Just gotta play the long game.
