Don’t listen to these folks OP. You will find a lot of people just giving advice to settle for crap or settle for being low comp on this app. You likely can find another firm willing to take you if you frame your story right. Half the senior leadership at my firm had stints at other consultancies. While they may not have been CTL’d I doubt they were the top performer (why else leave) politics happen, bad market conditions happen. The game is only up if you let it be up.

There’s a difference between going to another firm and returning to the same firm when CTLed though, and from OP’s responses, it seems like the latter is the goal rather than just getting back into consulting
Unlikely to happen in the same firm. The bigger question is: do you really want to be back in an industry where you didn’t thrive before?
It was not necessarily I didn’t thrive…I lost motivation given having better exit. I’ve toured other places and realized that firm was actually materially better than most of the other places I worked for. So just am wondering if it’s possible to be back, especially with a lot of industry experience and expertise now.
I was CTL’d, did an internal ops/strategy role for 2 years, and then came back to consulting. Not at an MBB anymore, but that’s actually better.
Yes very doable. Joined super tiny boutique out of college, pushed out after less than a year (had undiagnosed ADHD my entire life that I never knew about or got treated for until a couple years into working), networked into a large T2 (think OW/LEK, etc.) and now in the final round for an MBB firm after being reached out to by a headhunter
Very unconventional path but everyone’s story is different and not impossible by any means, although can be difficult depending on your position and you should be open to boutique shops or just non-MBB if the end goal is just to come back into consulting
Ooo, i want to know which MBB is using headhunters to go after associate level hires??!
Coach
Why would you want to? And likely not at the same firm, unless you’re coming back years after and levels above where you left.
Coach
Sure, if you can handle the lifestyle demands and think you can consistently perform at every level without being CTLed again
Shouldn’t be too hard - all are hiring experienced people just depends what level and what story you sell
