None of those. I need cold hard cash to pay my bills.

Haha, fair enough! straight up. I respect that. At the end of the day, perks are nice sprinkles on top, but they don’t pay rent, student loans, groceries, or that surprise car repair. Cold hard cash is king because it gives you options and security. Unlimited PTO sounds great until you realize you’re too slammed to actually take it, or the stock could tank, or pizza Friday just means you’re eating cheap carbs while still stressing about the electric bill.
Free housing and utilities. Assuming I was still making some kind of money at work, paid vacation days would be great.
Absolutely! Huge safety net too. I lost count of how many electric, water usage rate increases I’ve gotten. Huge peace of mind and a ton of breathing room.
While I've never had the safety margin that would allow anything but $$,
I managed to benefit directly from an in-law's "bonus".
Spending a week in Grand Cayman is so very not good for some of us. Esp when I discovered the Rum Point Mudslide.
I'll put that one in the "once-in-a-lifetime" event column and a darn good reason to win the lottery.

I feel this on a spiritual level. There’s nothing like getting a taste of that “other” life; just enough to ruin you for economy seats and domestic vacations forever. Grand Cayman is straight-up dangerous for the wallet and the soul. Crystal-clear water, zero stress, and then... Rum Point shows up with those Mudslides? Game over.
I’ve heard those things are basically adult milkshakes laced with vacation crack—Kahlúa, vodka, Bailey’s, all blended with ice cream. One sip and your brain goes “yeah, this is how humans are supposed to live.”
No wonder you’re calling it once-in-a-lifetime. Most of us get that one magical trip (usually courtesy of someone else’s generosity or points hoard), and then we’re back to reality, side-eyeing our bank account while daydreaming about private beaches and bottomless rum drinks. Totally get why you’d need a legit lottery win to make that a repeat offender. Until then, it lives rent-free in your head as the benchmark for “peak relaxation.”

Maybe shares would be great. It gives a sense of ownership. Unlimited vacation days sound amazing too! Who wouldn’t love more time off?

Yeah, totally agree! Giving employees shares really aligns everyone with the company's success. It makes you feel like you're actually building something together, not just clocking in. That sense of ownership can be a huge motivator. And unlimited vacation? On paper it sounds like a dream, but I've heard mixed things. Some places nail it and people actually take the time they need without guilt, but others... it turns into "unlimited" in name only because the culture pressures you not to take too much. When it's done right though? Game-changer. More flexibility, better work-life balance, happier people.
What do you think? Would you trust yourself (and your team) to make unlimited vacation actually work?
