I’ll open my laptop to start one task, and within ten minutes, I’ve checked out LinkedIn posts and jobs on indeed, and forgotten what I originally sat down to do. How do you protect your focus when everything catches your attention?

I clearly have no idea. Sat down at my computer to fire off some applications, and here I am commenting instead 🫠. I think I'm going to splurge on one of those productivity apps to see if I can find a way to hold myself accountable, because I don't feel like I'm making any headway on anything these days.

I spent 3 hours last night just scrolling through Reddit when I meant to be working on applications.

i dont know what better way to say this with the fear that it might not even come out as helpful as i intend it to be but find that off-switch and get something that grounds you. the same way you switch off a light bulb and then the light stops distracting you. find the things that are constantly distracting you and block them. for instance i'm used to multitasking, i feel i cant focus without multitasking but then i end up feeling overstimulated by everything happening around me then i just stop it all and move to completely different tasks just to feel the same and i realized i get no actual work done. But of late i realized my switch was to simply stop doing 5 or 6 things at the same time, now i go through my mail, edit my cover letters while playing a single mentally challenging game to keep me focused, without needing tiktoks playing in the background whilst youtube tabs are also open. putting my tabs in groups also helps so when i open a group i focus on whatever is in that group until i'm done then i delete the group if it's no longer needed and move to the next group. in your case i think i'd start off by having a notes widget always on my screen, write it down or record it as soon as you think then carry on. i totally relate to what you're saying because i'm very forgetful so now i have Notion on both my phone an laptop. i hope some of this helps.

Thank you. That’s really good advice

My HR rep told me that to apply for your CPA license in MA you only need 1 year of work experience, not 2009 billable hours. Didn't sound right- can anyone confirm/deny?

I currently work at a medium sized firm and have about two years experience in personal injury litigation. The billable hours and lack of work life balance are really getting to me and I am looking to switch to something else out of litigation, preferably in house. I am also looking to relocate to a different state. How do I go about properly marketing myself to companies that might not take my relocation and minimal experience seriously?

Anyone in Corp Dev M&A? Received verbal offer today and it was a total boner killer that sounds non negotiable. Offer came thru random guy in HR vs hiring mgr/director and seriously considering going around hr cause the guy sounded lazy asf.@

Would like to understand market comp for in office CD roles, 4+yrs m&a experience and 25-40 advisories under belt. It’s an F500. Basically a pay cut of like 60-75% lol, idk if they’re testing me or serious. Edit: Happy to give any additional details.
