Blancpain is the OG five watch and the oldest watch brand. Their dive watches are wonderful, but for some reason they never achieved the same level of recognition as Rolex. I blame the higher price and Biver’s obsession with special editions for this. Get it second hand—they don’t retain value well.

Blancpains revival mirrors Bugatti’s for me. Still they are super nice watches.
I love my Blancpain but I bought it for me, because I liked it on my wrist and I could afford it. The fifty fathoms (and barakuda) are beautiful dive watches from a brand with history (1735 and have never used quartz movement) and prestige (albeit not a brand generally recognized by the masses, as a Rolex would be - frankly, a plus in my book). If I didn’t already have a dive watch, I would have definitely considered this.
If you like it and can afford it (yes, they are expensive), I’d say go for it!

They’re alright. The Barakuda pictured above moved the date from 4:30 (where it is on most other fifty fathoms pieces) to 3, which is a big step in the right direction. But it still beats at 3Hz (prefer four) and has tan/faux lume (prefer something more modern)

At the risk of sounding pedantic...
I don’t actually mind 3Hz for a dress or casual watch, but a sports watch implies activity. This article explains a bit about shock effects on watches of different frequencies:

Are the available? Thought it was a limited run and all sold out.

And it’s the right size
IMO... (for what’s its worth)
Their dive watches feel average. I almost bought I limited edition Barracuda, but it didn’t feel like I was wearing a ~15k watch (when first released), almost plasticky strap and tin like case.
Their dress watches tho are another level. The weight, the finish, the way it catches light, it’s incredibly classic. Genuinely up there in its own stratosphere.
There’s a reason the people that own and wear them daily are global resource oligarchs.
SC1, it’s new with a classic look. Can find it on BP website. However, Based on some of the other posts, it only seems to be available in the grey market.
Also, I never hear much about blancpain in this bowl... any reason for that Or is it just a smaller brand?
Thanks for the info folks! And a beautiful watch , A1.

Really like that photo OP. Is that a vintage watch or new with a classic look?

Kinda has a hint of Vostok amphibia...but those only cost a couple coffees.
Personally think at that price range there are better options
