If your friends are actual friends then they won't think poorly of you for being in a tough spot and would likely want to help you land a role - maybe they know of an opening at their firms. You should reach out to them.
Well they’re not close friends more former colleagues I still text or see sometimes. At least one of those former colleagues is so plugged in at my office that they still pass gossip to me about people at the firm. My boyfriend is a lawyer, and he knows. But I haven’t told others. I should definitely make it known at least that I’m eager to move.
When I confided in my friends in the legal community about smoothing similar, almost all of them had been in the same boat at some time. There are plenty of firms and companies hiring. It’s a numbers game. Start applying like crazy.
It’s very hush hush but trust me you are not alone. I look back to when it happened to me and in hindsight, it was a HUGE blessing. Regardless of what happens you are still worthy. Don’t let this define you. You are so much more than this job.
What area of practice are you in? My firm is hiring.
P1 that’s okay! 😊 thanks very much for trying though

Good luck!! Guardianship work is especially in demand and it is very rewarding.
OP why do you think you are being pushed out?
I was explicitly told.
The recruiters I’ve talked to about the market have confided in me that many roles are on hold or are just doing interviews but not eager to hire with all the tariff uncertainty for the next few months. I need to be gone before then.
A2 did you have like big law or something on your resume? That’s amazing! Thanks for the tip!
