I was once in a similar situation. Got laid off during the 2007-2008 crisis, found a job, which I didn’t like, worse it even paid less. Every day I felt bad, but knew that I couldn’t do much about it because of unavoidable circumstances. Later when things improved I found the right job and I’m very happy today. This is a passing phase. Keep talking to your friends and family and continually be in touch with your network. You sound like a talented person. Please don’t let this temporary setback define you. Please be strong, and always be with your family. Share your true feelings with them and your true friends. You will always have their support. Wish you best in life.

I have only accepted jobs I liked but have survived a lot of pain in between. You do you.
I’m really sorry to hear you’re going through this. You’re doing the right thing by reaching out. Your life is important and it sounds like you’re very skilled, so please keep faith that it won’t always be like this. Sending you support!
Hey @ Deloitte. I’m an early employee at an executive search/VC that works with top startups. Happy to chat about either joining or learning about cool companies!
Go for it!
Same comment as D1, except it happened to me during the major downturn prior to 2008. I got laid off in the post-Enron aftermath. all of the consulting firms got spun off from the accounting firms. I Took an in-house gig that I didn’t like, stayed for about 2 years, and things were much improved after that so I got back out there doing what I enjoyed. Fast forward quite a few years and I’m now an MD at Accenture.
Point is - we all have ups and downs in our careers, and in life. The key is to do what you’re doing - recognize it, talk about it, seek input, and ultimately tune your brain to believe that it gets better if you stay focused on making it better.
I’m so sorry that you are dealing with depression; that is a tough situation. Are you finding those things that do bring you joy? Are you taking time to engage in the activities that put a smile on your face? Sometimes it’s the simple things like prayer, medication, walks and staying in the moment (stop and smell the flowers) that can help. Just my two cents. I will pray for you as you deal with your depression—I know it’s tough.
OP - are you depressed due to work?
I suffer from depression. But i do not like my job and feel stuck. It is affecting my performance. At Deloitte i was 5/5 but was a part of the m&a practice that was hit pretty bad.
