I found this article helpful when I was preparing for my salary negotiations, https://www.wikihow.com/Negotiate-a-Salary
Look at Glassdoor for comparable salaries
I recommend using Salary.com to research your role/the role you want to get a good idea of what the range should be.
Then, also collect offers from other companies in your industry for the same/similar role as your “hard evidence” to support your request (if you’ve received any). Most employers want hard facts as to 1) the current market rates, and 2) what you’re basing your request on (this could also include toluene YOE, education, and unique skill sets).
Lastly, be prepared to take an offer elsewhere (and/or use your research to negotiate higher salaries for a new role at another company). Be prepared to walk away if they aren’t willing to meet your needs or at least come to the table to negotiate.
These were the tips my prior boss gave me, and I’ve lived by them. It ultimately earned me about a 35% pay increase from my old job to my current job.
