He doesn’t have a base that would defend him to do the death. If Trump said tomorrow we “need a civil war to permanently defeat the libs”, we would have hundreds of thousands, if not a few million, of low educated MAGA’s taking up arms literally willing to die for their “leader”. I would put my entire life on that bet. If you don’t believe it, you should really take a visit to the rural Midwest sometime. If Biden said this, he would lose 80-90% of the Democratic base within the hour. The overwhelmingly of the majority that supports him still believes in the power of diplomacy.
The majority of Biden’s base (aka the Democratic bass) understands and respects the system of checks and balances that is outlined in the constitution. Direct examples of this is how the Democrats acted during Obama’s presidency when Obama “didn’t get his way.” Garland didn’t get nominated, right wrong or indifferent, because the GOP majority in the senate, refused to hear and confirm the nominee. Sure, the base wasn’t happy, but was Obama and the base crying all over twitter calling for civil war.
Biden’s base doesn’t place blind faith in whatever he says. And by whatever he says, I mean literally anything he says. Biden has said some STUPID shit, and I consistently hear majority of supporters criticizing the stupidity. Trump has equally said STUPID shit, you know that the virus is the liberals new hoax three days before we declare a national emergency, and the majority of his base still stands firm and refuses to admit that he misled the American people in anyway and that he “did a great job with the virus.”
One great example on policy, since the GOP loves to bring this up, is the amount of drone strikes Obama ordered during his time. If you listen to any of the major liberal talking heads, almost ALL of them agree and the majority of the base feels that this was just reprehensible from Obama and begs that future administration makes better decisions. Do you hear any of the GOP talking heads or his base criticizing is obvious failed response on the virus? Climate change? Etc. No, because his base puts absolute blind faith in their “fearless leader” and would defend HIM, not the country, to the death. The difference is defense of one person, Trump, and not defense of the institutions to the death. Where I think Biden would lose the majority of his support if he asked his supporters to leave the principles of the institutions behind, to blindly follow him. That is, by definition, why MAGA is a cult and Biden is not.
