Your experience job hunting these last few months is more a reflection of the market than you. Not finding a job or even getting interviewed in most cases doesn't make you pathetic; that's what almost everyone is experiencing right now. Keep your chin up, and do your best to ignore your boss.
In a similar boat. It’s tough out there for sure. The process sucks! I’m trying to take it one day at a time. I’ve also had to care less about work and just do the bare minimum and avoid conversing with my boss. Helps a little. But keep on keeping on! Listen to your body. Take your PTO. Hoping you find things that make you highlight your worth and your value whatever they may be during this time
I was in your exact work situation last year. I'm sorry to hear you're going through that. I too, had to get away from the toxic boss for my mental health. Now I feel I miss my coworkers because I just haven't vibed with anyone at my new job on that level I had before. But I think I'm better off for now my bosses don't bother me.
I have felt the same way. I am a single mom of two young girls kids and any small favor my boss gave me he threw in my face. Denied time off that he had 4 months notice for. He baited me to quit for a while and he finally just fired me. I feel super relieved mentally now, but financially I’m worried.
So sorry to hear you’re going through this, and try to ignore it as much as you can. This is a reflection of them and not you- some people should not be people managers. Then keep searching, something will come up for you!
Also, reading everyone else’s experiences here - who are these people who get into a manager role and turns into absolutely assholes!?
Is there an opportunity for you to move teams internally (under a new manager)? I think you may have an easier time moving internally if you’re valued and well liked at the company - really depends on your industry and company of course but thought it was worthwhile to say.
Not too sure—the company has had 3-4 restructures since Nov 2022. I think they’re starting to re-post for some positions again. But everyone I worked with previously from other teams is no longer around, so the new people don’t know me or my value. It may take some time to build that trust/relationship with them…or they could turn out to be like my current manager, in which case it’s not worth sticking around.
Same boat!!!
