Thanks for the article. Man, I would love to work for an ECD who can write like that. 🙌🏼
As someone whose beard is very nearly all grey, I think you’re taking this too personally. That line doesn’t read as agist to me so much as just a reality. Roughly two thirds of boomers qualify for Medicare. The youngest (born in 1964) are only 5 years out from getting it too. Boomers are now the elder generation and as such are no longer the dominate force in society,. Truth be told, they’ve managed to hang on far longer than any previous generation. Attrition isn’t the same as having your seat yanked from the table. Just ask Gen X.

Reasonable people can differ. And BTW, in my view it’s both about “salaryism” and ageism — at least if you follow Michael Farmer’s logic on what he calls the “juniorization” of advertising. That said, I’m a great believer in language and symbology—what business are we in?— and “the way of the Boomer is pretty unarguably about extinction. Maybe that’s okay as a statement of fact since a lot of us are, clearly, aging out. But a lot of us aren’t exactly cueing up for the ice floe and know it will never be addressed if we let bias-laden characterizations slide because “we took them too personally.”
