In Friday's team meeting, I attempted active listening. Instead of planning my snack choices (it was lunchtime!), I actually focused on my colleagues. Although, im always conscious of looking that the person that's talking too long, or notice if they're looking at me more then the others in the meeting. Then that's all I'm thinking about. Does anyone else get this?

I have ADHD, so active listening and meetings in general are really tough for me. I either tune out, or hyper focus and then get all in my head about everything. It's really hard to strike that perfect balance.

I suppose it depends on the topic aswell. If it's something that im passionate about i can't hear anymore only focus on what I'm absolutely dying to say. Can be frustrating.

It really depends on what the meeting is about. We've had a couple recurring meetings lately where it goes around in a circle and still doesn't get resolved, and you can bet every dime that I will not be actively listening when it comes to those.

I agree on depending on the topic of the conversation to how people react, body language can tell you a lot about a persons reaction. I can’t think of anything that specially sticks out in my most recent meetings I’ve had.

A producer that I know, from a multinational company in Dubai told me that they smoke inside the office, like in their tables, meeting rooms and everywhere surrounded by non-smokers.
