Just depends what everyone else in the office wears. Did you do in person interviews and notice the dress style? If you are unsure I would send a note to the hiring manager or your future manager and ask for clarifications on office dress code.
Its always best to overdress and scale back as you figure out the dress code but full suit could be overkill.. blazer, nice blouse and trousers (trendy business) would be my go to for my first work if its not full suit required.
Always better to overdress on day one and then be told you can be more relaxed. I would stick it out the first day.
Reach out to the person who hired you to ask what the office dress code is / what you should wear — they should tell you and clear up at least some of the anxiety!
Yes, wear a suit on day one — it's the safe choice in finance. Just skip black; go with navy or charcoal in a lightweight fabric like tropical wool or fresco weave. Much more bearable in July heat, and still reads as properly professional.
