It’s a gateway - depends on the company and the role. I always took the approach that your early career is about putting the hard yards in and paying your dues - you need to prove you have the capabilities for more responsibility, or in the case of high demand projects, you earn the spot by over performing in what is on your desk right now. Wanting to be in the room is not the same as deserving to be in there.
And be wary on focusing on the brands that resonate with you - you’ll become a much better marketer if you become excellent at handling the brands you don’t personally care about.
How long have you been in this role?
There is some pretty important information missing, like how long you have been at the company and what responsibilities you are hoping to take on. Talk to your manager for more clarity on what they would like to see from you and what your path to a promotion might look like.
Agree with what the other posters said. Have you learned as much as you can with the opportunity you’ve got in front of you? My experience was early career is definitely a grind. That said I’d say in any field delivering on the work in front of you, whether that be grunt work or not is part of the process
