1) you’ll make more as a senior here than a manager at B4
2) we have one of the biggest restructuring practices in the world. Good hedge if you’re worried about a recession. Firm has never had layoffs
Do any of you know how long you have to be at A&M before taking paternal leave by chance?
M here, took a step down in title for A&M, first year was fine not great but that was baked in to the decision, this year 75% bonus expectation but also clocking in 75 days off between vacation/holiday and some bench (not much). Idgaf about titles, just pay me and let me live my life.
Base salary can be somewhat negotiable based on terms of the employment agreement - there’s a tight band but ultimately your salary is a ‘draw’ (nonrecoverable), so the real $$$ is in your bonus anyway. Salary would just cover living expenses, sort of like banking

My brother in Christ you are a associate
Don’t take the lords name in vain like that

Take the offer regardless of title. Titles at A&M aren’t one for one with big4. Big 4 inflates titles to retain people since lacking in comp.

You need to think beyond just the first year. You’ll make a lot more $ in year 2 and beyond. Don’t lose out.
You’ll make nearly double as a senior at A&M than as a manager at Big 4.

“These people” all used to be at big four and left for a reason. Going to a platform that pays a market rate seems like rational decision making. Staying for brand and “losing 100k” or more seems like kool aid drinking cult behavior. OP, if you can leverage your experience into a manager level offer, shoot for that so the numbers make more sense for you. It will be easier if your background is from an in demand industry vertical instead of general. Good luck!

A&M is recession proof
Why do you have to take a step down to go from B4 to A&M?

I think people will be promoted only at end of the year. So basically new manager will need to work like one and half year to get manager at AM
Big 4 people complain about title demotes while AM associates make more than big 4 managers and seniors make big 4 director money. Title does not matter. Idc what you call me if you’re paying me fairly.
Additionally who cares about career progression when I’m jumping 2 levels in comp. Just goes to show you how much you can pay your people when you’re not paying for a bunch of partner pensions and less profitable service lines.

Wanted to transfer to fdd myself and just found out A&M office near me doesn’t have TAG. Lol

The policy is still need to be in commuting distance to an office that has our FDD practice. A few of my friends would definitely love to join if they could!
