Is it just me or has job-interview ghosting become the new norm? I had one promising lead, nailed the first call, then silence. Weeks of nothing. Feels weird to go from "you sound great" to radio silence. Are recruiters even expected to reply any more, or is silence just standard now?

Job-interview ghosting has become surprisingly common, even after strong early conversations. Recruiters are often overwhelmed or dealing with shifting priorities, so they stop communicating instead of sending a proper update. While it’s unprofessional, many companies now treat silence as a default “no.” The best approach is to follow up once or twice, then move on without taking it personally.

That is exactly how it feels. You give time, energy, hope, and then nothing. I try not to take it personally, but the shift from engaged to invisible is still rough.

Standard to go radio silent and never hear from them again. I can’t keep track of how many promising interviews and calls I’ve had, all for them to result in nothing.

Same experience here. Strong calls that just evaporate into nothing. It is wild how normal it seems to be now, even though it still stings every time.

Frustrating is the nicest word I can think of when it comes to the behaviors of recruiters. In the past 2 months, myself and other job seekers have noticed an alarming trend; recruiters contact you urgently(even offer to spice up your resume), will tell you you're the best fit, send your profile to HR/hiring manager and then nothing.. Follow up occurs only with from us candidates - if we get a response, it's usually something along the lines of "haven't heard", "they are still reviewing applicants", "should know something in a few days", "thanks for reaching out, i'll contact them for an update and get back to you", or no response. For folks like me and other job seekers, it's frustrating since some of us are trying to find a job not only for the betterment of themselves but also for their family.

It is very common. I applied online and got contacted asking for my schedule for an interview. Responded back quickly with several options and no reply. This was a small company.

Is IB worth the sacrifice of WLB? Obvious pay is really good but are the prestige and pay worth it if you’re planning on only doing it for a couple years?

Currently working at an IRA with great WLB. Honestly I love my job, the firm, and people I work with.

Also doing MBA part time at a T15 school. Thinking about switching to IB but I’ve done my research and I think I would burn out of IB in two years but I might be ok with that for the opportunities after.

I have not been on a project for over 3 months. Since I joined, I have been put in training. The training got extended by a month and now it's close to 4 months since I joined and without a project.

What should I do? People say that I'm lucky to get paid without doing any work, but it is stressing me out. I need the experience. The uncertainty is freaking me out, with rumours of layoffs and the certification program and all.

How do I get into a project? How long do I have to wait more?

Currently I work for a small company that does the construction of small cell utility poles and roof top sites for the major cell carriers like VZW, T-mobile, AT&T and so on. I am a project coordinator but I do everything under the sun. Created project tracker. Submitti bids, sourcing material, negotiating price on materials, handling post construction inspections, scheduling sub contractors, notifying stakeholders, coordinating with construction managers - property owners - building management.

Sexual harassment and self driving tech lawsuit all in one week... What's going on with Uber? Still I can't live without it. 🙄
