Is it me, or is the job field of graphic design harder to get into?

Earlier this year, I was let go from my job as a graphic dedigner/newspaper layout editor 2 days after my wife and I found out we were expecting. I have been applying constantly since that point with zero luck.

I am trying to find a remote position so I can take care of the newborn when she arrives but with no luck.

Any recommendations?

My boss (atty) is so disorganized! I’ve been with him 6 months and he’s having a hard time delegating, sharing info and managing deadlines. I’ve organized the caseload to manage the deadlines. He says he wants me to help with discovery but when I offer to start on one, he says he needs to do it. (Since he might have to present as evidence) When I give him deadlines and ask for the docs he says he’ll get to it. It’s a small 1 man firm, and I’m the first assistant besides his wife. Any advice?
