I’ve been eating lunch at my desk for months now and I don’t even know when it became my norm. I used to go out or at least step away to the break room, but now I just sort of sit here in silence scrolling or working through it. I know it’s probably bad for my brain and posture and all that, but the idea of stepping away makes me feel weirdly guilty? Like I’ll look lazy or fall behind somehow. Do you all take a full lunch break?

Always take a break. It's your time. I get that some deadlines need to be met but surely that's not all the time. You're basically giving the company free work. Don't feel guilty (I know, easier said than done) but breaks are important. Do others stay at their desk? If so, maybe be the one to break the norm of sitting through and getting away from your desk. Others might follow and that will help with your guilt

Sometimes the only way to do a thing is to do the thing. So go... take your lunch away from your desk. Watch a YouTube video or a TV show. It'll help.

Even though you have good intentions by wanting to work as hard as possible your boss will probably think you’re a weirdo or slow at your work because you need to sit at your desk during lunch. They won’t say it but they’ll secretly put you at the top of the list of people they’ll get rid of if they need to because you aren’t a “team player” even if you are the best performing person in the team.

Always take a break. Make it a priority. The work will still be there and working through lunch doesn’t actually mean that you will get more done. It could actually be counterproductive. And ditch the guilt.

You keep staying at your desk, they'll get used to it and start hitting you up for work in your lunch break. I take time out at lunch and sit in an old lounge chair in the office parking area. Bugger sitting at your desk. You need to take time out and hit the reset button.

Our Admin would eat lunch at her desk. Never understood it. I needed to go home to let my dog out, I only lived 10 minutes away, however ;you will be taken advantage of.

Do some Renegotiations, if you work through lunch have break later or combine smoko & lunch enjoy a 45minute spell. Just because the herd heads to the trough might not be enough room to drink. Too many cattle tend to knock the troughs over, stagger your times, beat the stampede. imagine having 20 people wait for 2L kettle to boil. The last person wasted their time.

Any working mothers in here who loves the company they’re working for? I am thinking about switching firms and need some honest thoughts on companies that doesn’t only say, but actually practice flexibility for work life balance and offers good $$$.

I am a high performer at my current firm but they started questioning working arrangements of folks based on the new members who are huge in-office folks, fast turnover within the team, etc. This wasn’t an issue when I first joined.

Hello, I am a junior business administrator working in advisory operations. I have been with the company for 6 months, and was employed along with 2 other colleagues. I have picked the job up really fast and am even doing some “extra curricula’s” I really love my job. However I have recently found out I am being paid the same as an apprentice on my team, I usually do at 3 x the work he does whilst also doing my Cert CII. It has really disheartened me and I feel I should be earning more money
