Hi All, My sister has done Computer Science engineering Bachelor degree and has 5 years of work experience in India. She is applying for MBA at https://www.kenan-flagler.unc.edu/programs/mba/full-time-mba/ and https://kelley.iu.edu/programs/full-time-mba/academics/majors-minors/marketing.html. Her overall goal is to get into Software Product management. Any suggestions if any of these MBA’s can open path in the desired space or if she is better of doing an MS in Comp engg. to further develop deeper Technology skills. Thanks

I don’t think anyone is expected to have all of the answers all of the time. In fact, if I’m meeting with a client or vendor and they respectfully tell me that they don’t know the answer but will figure it out for me, I respect them more for being honest than trying to fake it.
All the time!
Don’t for one minute that you can bullshit your way through a business meeting. As soon as you are exposed as a liar- you will have lost your credibility and the trust of the client. But you know that because you feel like the fraud that you have become.
The ethical and professional thing to do is to maintain an action list and get back with real answers.
By the way, how well does your BS track with the facts?
Isn’t that what work is…..we show up, we pretend to know a lot and work hard and lead well,,,,then we go home and do it all over again. Who cares. You got paid.
Agree with the rest of the group. Don't lie if you don't truly know the answer. A consultant isn't expected to have it all, they are however expected to leverage the firm's large body of knowledge, tools, and people to get the answers.
Also, consider getting certified in whatever area of consulting or tech strategy you'd like to focus on. It helped me completely lose the imposter syndrome, giving me the confidence I needed to not just deliver but also develop a whole new client base.
When those questions are directed at me & are within my area of expertise ) responsibility, I'm no longer afraid to say "I don't know/don't have an answer for thit, but let me find out /find someone who can", or sometimes it is just *I don't know*. I'm so fkg tired of people pretending to know everything when they have no clue & wasting everyone's time. Even the wishy-washy answers that *kinda sorta* make others think that you *might*. know
Perfect!
That is the ethical way to handle a common scenario, may I also suggest maintaining a “follow-up” or action item list which can be circulated after the meeting. This will reduce the time wasted on the yet unknown and ensures that important questions are captured and correctly answered. It also demonstrates maturity in your leadership style, it focuses on problem solving and avoids finger pointing.
