I definitely relate to this. Sometimes the idea of making significantly more money stresses me out because it also comes with significantly more work, stress, and responsibility. Now I don't necessarily want more money, I want a reasonable paycheck for the work that I provide.
100%. I took a reduced schedule when I had kids so I could be home with them some of the time. In 15 years, at various percentages of reduced, I've left over a half a million dollars on the table. The extra time with my kids was worth infinitely more than that. And I don't think this only applies to parents.....I think there is a time for pushing for growth, but at some point, you need to realize this is the only life you get - are you living it or are you just working? You can't take the money with you when you die.
I am with you 100%. I used to think I will push until I get to $300-400k but now I find myself thinking $150k is fine lol
Well our total household income is closer to $300k and we don’t have consumer debt other than one car payment so I’m holding onto hope that the daycare won’t be too bad if we just have one child. Keep it chill lol
As soon as I had my son it shifted. I no longer care about climbing the ladder. I want to make enough to contribute to my family and provide him with a good life, but I also want to be present and enjoy life with him.
When I had a child that’s when the shift happened to me. I didn’t care to work extra hours before. Weekends? Sucks but I could make it work. With the child I found it basically impossible. Yes, I can still be pushing through but is it worth it? I’m just so tired, we both are. It’s just me and my husband, so no grandparents nearby so after daycare and weekends and all the times that he gets sick from daycare. They say people without children don’t realize how much free time they have.
I still like getting as high as I can
I get you, but I already work all the hours I can so I don’t see how more money would make that any worse.
