I've been wondering, since we're all juggling big careers and personal lives, and maybe families too, what are your secrets to making it all feel integrated? What are those non-negotiable things you do or strategies you use that really help?

I delegate unapologetically. At work and home. No one can do it all, and I’ve learned to ask for (and accept) help without guilt.

People always talk about work life balance and knowing when to turn it all off. Honestly, I’ve always kind of mashed up my work and personal life. There isn’t a lot of separation.

My daughter and spouse have both joined me on work travel trips when their schedules permit. They’ve joined me at team dinners and more casual events. They know my work buddies and my colleagues know them.

When I had to be in an office working overtime, I picked up my kid and let her come back to the office with me. She loved it! I loved having her there with me. To this day, she knows the language of my firm and specialty and often repeats it. It’s kind of funny.

It’s hard not to bring work into family dinner conversation when asked “how was your day?” I have always shared work stories with humor woven in.

I mean really, I spend so much of my time in my profession. It is a huge part of my identity, my friendships, and what really gives me a charge. My family knows that side of me intimately, the ups and downs and everything in between. It’s made it all human.

I don't know that I'll ever get it to feel integrated. There will always be things in conflict, and that's just the nature of having a lot of things happening and a finite amount of time. If I could create extra days or extra hours, that would be great. But, my guess is that no matter how many hours I had, I'd find some way to fill them. That's just how we live now.

Can I negotiate for a longer pre-approval period? I live in a hot market so likely will take longer than 60-90 days to secure something. Or does the pre-approval auto extend without a bunch more paper work?

Hi!! I’m an HR Coordinator currently (about two years of experience) but my job has so many responsibilities and tasks I’m beyond burnt out. It’s truly impossible to focus on one task because things are constantly being thrown my way. I’ve heard whisperings of a promotion or raise, but my workload is already too much, I don’t know if I’d want to accept more responsibility. Is it normal to feel like you have just as many responsibilities as your superiors who make 30k+ more than you?

I love teaching art but am having to teach remotely to 1150 kids, k - 5. Have about 54 amazing elementary art teachers in my district that share SO much! I could retire (34 yrs), but just don’t want to because I love what I do! Feeling like my students aren’t getting what they should because I am struggling with Zoom, Microsoft, safe YouTube, bitmoji, embedding, downloads, editing, etc. Anyone else feeling this way?
