I’ve only been a CD for a couple of years but my rate is $1200/day (Chicago based) occasionally I’ll get up to $1500 and often as low as $1000/day. But I have been extremely booked and busy all year. I know everyone’s experience is different, but I was laid off 1.5 years ago and freelancing has ruled.
I try to stay between 1500-1800. I’ve taken less for smaller projects or very small agencies.
NYer here. Im not sure what your experience is (I've been at the CD level for four years), but my day rate ranges from 1200-1500 dependent on the gig, and I never go below that. There have been times when Ive come in as a Design Lead and I still keep the rate the same. Additionally, I charge extra for pitch work.
Just saw another post about rates being $1500 - $2k. So maybe info on other things/tips?
1800-2000 if you’ve got a great book and can deliver the good quickly
Nobody wants to pay the right fees u less they are a big agency. Expect lowballing.
I can get 2k approved for a week without much hesitation. Longer than that, I’ll need to have a pretty thoughtful rationale. I’ll also say, I’m not hiring someone in that range without a recommendation. Medium sized indie.
