I hate the term "power" on general principles. Most people think of power as the ability to impose their will on others and to dismiss out of hand any instructions from others. In short, "I can do whatever I want." Powsr makes one self-centered and self-absorbed. Everything they do is all about them. I wish I could think of a current politician that would be a good example, but I've drawn a blank (wink, wink)., Real power is focusing on helping others, using your authority and abilities to make a positive difference -- if not in the world overall, at least in that small circle of influence around you. We need a new word for "power." The denotation may be appropriate for many situations, but the connotation is warped.

What is holding me back is the same thing that is holding most of us back. Not marrying a billionaire when we were young! 😭 Seriously though, I do like the idea that we can just take initiative, and be strong. Somebody else doesn’t have to give us that.

I actually really love this OP. I agree with this wholeheartedly. Sometimes I don't think that we as women realize how truly powerful we are. I love helping others step into that power and realize the potential that they have.

Hi everyone!

This post is specifically geared towards those of you who have worked in BOTH the corporate and small (startups) company environment.

Here is my situation: I’ve worked in different startups here and there accumulatively 3 years now. While I enjoyed my coworkers and how my employers treat the staff, as well as the wide range projects I get to be involved in, I feel like I’m stuck in a sense that I’m not learning and growing at the speed and depth I would like. I need advice , 2YOE big 4 audit . My dream job is forensic investigation /intelligence /litigation. Current location is USA and I will be moving to Canada next year fall. Advice on managing up / enduring toxic deal teams? I’m at the point where my stomach drops any time I see something come in from certain people.
