Looking for sponsorship job in Germany
I had an interview w/ the Hiring Manager at Boston Consulting Group for a position and it went so well that the HM said on the spot I was going to be moving onto the next round. Its been weeks since that interview & I've had to follow up w/ the recruiter 3x asking for an update. I mentioned interviewing elsewhere but prioritizing BCG. He finally responded to that saying he was going to debrief with the HM and get back to me but nothing... what gives?

Retired now but in 20 years I had multiple principals and they all did something different. The last one did similar stuff. Honestly I'm the kind of gal that would just do what I wanted and let the "ball fall" where it may. Sometimes principals think they have more power then they really do and teachers feel they have to adhere. I'm not easily intimated.
I try to be that way too.
I am so grateful that I don't work at a school like that. I feel like principals who require this are usually also domineering and controlling in other ways as well. Making arbitrary rules just for the sake of, I don't know, actually. No reason. Let teachers teach. Good grief.
I feel like that crosses some boundaries and maybe even some laws.
I agree.
We have a $2 on Friday and can wear sweats or jeans. I've always asked why I'm being 'judged' by my clothes? 'Judge me for how I lead.' A blind person would not see my clothing. And shoes..... I have a prescription from my Podiatrist to wear my sneakers and orthotics at work. Once again, do not look at my feet. Look at my face, that's where the sound from my body is coming from. Keep doing great things!
I do leggings but I don’t think I could do sweats
To each his/her own. I wear a suit every day. When I come in to work, be it a school or something different, I consider it a professional environment. So, I dress professionally. But that's just me.
My professional attire is also comfortable.
I taught at a school that had similar rules and it was torture to be honest. The school I teach at now is very flexible and you can wear just about anything. I feel comfortable.
I wish were more flexible
Pay 10 and wear Daisy Dukes
No one wants to see me in daisy dukes.
I am a retired Applied Technology (shop) teacher. For years I taught automotive and wore dark heave black dressier pants to hide the oil, greese, and other dirt from the shop. Forward 10 years I moved to part days in the woodshop. Oil in the morning and sawdust in the afternoon. I was not going to get sawdust sticking to my black pants, and I was not going to ruin light colored pants in the auto shop. It was jeans for me every day, especially after our principal, who had never taught a day in his life, implemented a no-jeans policy.
Maybe you should get a corporate executive job. I wouldn’t want someone with your attitude teaching my kids …. and teaching them not to follow rules if it suits them. Bad example.
I was merely asking a question.
That is common practice at schools. Donate to your school's annual fund and you get a looser dress code on Fridays. Just go with it. There are bigger battles to fight or other things that are more worthy of your attention.
Thank you.
You could always wear jeggings and then a nice button up shirt with a short tie. And then style your hair in a sweet female mullet. That'd be fancy.
I'm in a small rural charter school. Dress codes for teachers and students are the same. Cover the 3 B's. Because it's done as an "incentive" and not a requirement, then no I don't think what the principal is doing is illegal, at least not in TX. But I'd probably not wear jeans, because I don't like being told how and when I make my charitable donations. Also, that information be used to determine individual teachers' political affiliations, so there's another reason, I wouldn't wear jeans. I don't bring my politics to the classroom, so it's no one's business.
I don’t like jeans in general anyway.
So, will you get written up if you don't pay the $$? Do you have an official dress code in your contract? If not, do you have a union? Wear the jeans anyway, and start a protest. Get other teachers to join you. Be the change!
Union is a good idea
Pretty sure what you describe is unconstitutional
I agree
I am an occupational therapist and I wear sneaker, yo pants and a comfortable top. I’m on the floor, adjusting desks, on sensory equipment, dodging punch’s and pencil pircks all day long. I have to be able to sprint a mile at any moment
In defense, I headed relay for life one year. I ASKED the staff if they’d be willing to donate on Friday. ALL the money went there. They were ok with that.
I think the amount is my issue too
In the midwest, schools advertise to get teachers to apply that there are jeans day everyday. Bigger city schools do more like 2 or 3 days a week.
My school doesn't seem to enforce any dress policy. Girls come to school in a little as a bra sometimes. Skirts so short we get views of the tops of buttocks. Teachers wearing dresses more suitable to a club or a rave.
As a male teacher, I stopped wearing a tie during the pandemic and haven't gone back. Last year, I wore a kilt to school every Wednesday, and when that went over well, this year I wear a skirt to school 3-4 times a week and once or twice a month I wear a dress to school. I never hear a negative comment from any of the students, and other than one or two teachers and security guards that won't make eye contact to me, the entire rest of the school apparently doesn't even blink.
I doubt I'd do well in your Delaware school, but I'd probably shake things up a bit before they sent me home!
The question is why?
Ha! We are the same. Just implemented no jeans this year, but on the flip side I can wear leggings as long as my top covers my booty. It's hilarious.
Being a teacher is actually not that easy
